Federal – Personal Jurisdiction over Corporations

BNSF Railway Co. v. Tyrrell, No. 16-405 (5/30/2017). The US Supreme Court ruled that (1) Sec. 56 of the Federal Employers’ Liability Act does not address personal jurisdiction and (2) a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in Texas, that was not so heavily engaged in business in Montana to render it at home there was not subject to the general jurisdiction of Montana’s courts.
