In the rapid pace of running a business, many business owners neglect opportunities to recharge their enthusiasm by participating in conferences and expos. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s 10th annual “America’s Small Business Summit” is an excellent opportunity to do just that. Held June 11 – 13, 2014, in Washington, D.C, the Summit features three days of motivating speakers, educational programs and numerous networking events.
CT is proud to be a sponsor of this outstanding conference which includes keynote speeches by former Secretary of State, General Colin Powell, political analyst Charlie Cook, Steve Case, co-founder of AOL, Susan O’Malley, first female president of a professional sports franchise, and Jim Vandehei, founder and CEO of Politico. Other highlights include a reception at the Newseum, celebrating the Summit’s 10th anniversary, and the presentation of this year’s Dream Big Awards.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is one of the strongest national voices for business. America’s Small Business Summit offers opportunities to both hear what is on the political horizon and to make your voice heard in the Nation’s Capital. Attendees are able to attend a breakfast on Capitol Hill where they can meet key Congressional leaders. Keynote speaker Charlie Cook will provide a preview of the 2014 midterm elections. In addition, a governors’ panel will explore issues surrounding economic growth and the skills gap. You can also participate in a round-table discussion with experts regarding key issues in taxation, energy and financing.
A wide range of break-out sessions provides information that you need to keep your business growing and thriving. Sessions include “hot topics” that should be on the radar of every business owner, such as “Reputation Management,” "Cyber Essentials to Protect Your Business" and “Myths & Facts: Dispelling E-Verify Rumors.” Other sessions include: “Simple Steps for Growing Your Business,” “How ‘Small Business Saturday’ Helped Main Street Take Back the Holidays” and “How to Take Your Business to the Next Level: Opportunities in Government and Corporate Contracts.”
A great conference provides ample time for networking as well as learning. There are numerous opportunities throughout the three days, ranging from scheduled time during the days, cocktail events and breakfasts, including one sponsored by CT on June 12. Small businesses have the unique opportunities to meet procurement officers from federal agencies and Fortune 500 companies to discuss small business procurement opportunities and to meet with representatives from federal agencies and nonprofit organizations to learn about their resources and services for small businesses.
All in all, this is one of the premier small business events in 2014. It is not too late to make plans to attend. If you are able to attend, we would be delighted to see you at the CT Booth, where you can register for giveaways and pick up useful information on running your business. If you can’t attend, follow the events on our Twitter feed, on Google Plus, LinkedIn or on Facebook.
